2027 Marblehead Festival of Arts - Logo Contest

Call for Entries for the 2027 Marblehead Festival of Arts Logo Contest
The Marblehead Festival of Arts invites professional and nonprofessional individuals who currently reside, work, attend a school, or belong to an arts association in Essex County to submit entries for the 2027 Marblehead Festival of Arts Logo Contest.

This long-standing and prestigious competition, as old as the festival itself, produces a one-of-a-kind design to symbolize each year's event.

The 2027 Festival logo will appear on merchandise, signage, web pages, and so much more, and will be used not only at our legendary summer arts festival, but also at events throughout the year, including our film festival, champagne reception and fundraising events, just to name a few. It will become a part of Festival history!

Judges will select designs from this year’s submission as semifinalists; the MFoA Board of Directors will then review the judges’ selections and present the finalists to the public.

The public will then determine the winner by ballot this December during the annual Artisans’ Holiday Marketplace at Abbot Hall. The winner will be unveiled at an exciting logo premiere party in January 2027 and will receive a cash prize of $150.

The deadline for all submissions is Monday, November 30, 2026, at 5:00 pm ET. A $10 entry fee is required. You may submit up to three entries.

Good luck! We’re looking forward to seeing your creativity shine!

Eligibility
You must currently reside, work, be a student or a member of an Art Association in Essex County.

Submission Requirements
  • Represent the arts and/or the Town of Marblehead
  • Use the following text: Marblehead Festival of Arts  July 1-5, 2027
  • Be original art
  • Use up to 3 colors
  • Be submitted as a JPEG or PNG format file
Important Considerations
While all submissions will be considered, the Festival will give priority to those submissions that take into consideration the following recommendations:
  • Entries that visually evoke the arts or the artistic/creative spirit
  • Entries that represent the town of Marblehead through its spirit, history, landmarks, or people
  • Entries that display creative finesse as unique, bespoke works of art (as opposed to more generic corporate branding). We welcome a “hand-created” look.

Do not do the following
  • NO AI Art. Any images found to have been created by an image generation service will be disqualified
  • NO copyrighted material

The logo will be stitched, printed or silkscreened onto items like hats, shirts and mugs. So the design will need to use solid colors.

Here are a few examples from previous years.

Other examples can be found in our online Logo Gallery

Please keep these in mind for the design:
  • Black is a color
  • Two shades of the same color are counted as two colors (ex. light blue and dark blue)
  • White is a color if it is an integral part of the design, otherwise it will be transparent and be the color of the material the logo is printed on
  • Solid colors only

The logo should
  • Be adaptable to use on various colored backgrounds
  • Be adaptable to both black & white and color print processes
  • Use fonts that will be legible when reproduced in a wide variety of sizes (min font size is 14)
  • Be adaptable to both screen printing and embroidery processes

The winning entry will ultimately become a vector, EPS or .ai format file to enable high quality reproduction on digital media, physical media and merchandise.

You are allowed to enter up to Three [3] Logos.

There is a fee of $10 per entry.

Deadline is Sunday, November 29th 2026, at 5:00pm.

All submitted logos are the sole property of the Marblehead Festival of Arts, Inc.
